Topic Description

For a designer is an advantage to domain the color language to have the expected impact on his audience. The skill of successfully combine colors and use them in the different design fields, needs not just the knowledge of theory but the capacity to identify communication needs and have the eye and sensibility to translate them in a correct color usage. Color communicates emotions and has a strong and direct impact on the response and interaction with the “designs”( objects/spaces/clothes and also digital productions).

 

Mastering this powerful communication skill and discover how influences emotions, feelings, and behaviors will in conclusion help to develop basic design skills.

Output results

With the title the “The spirit of joy” we will create a Digital storytelling and some textured-surfaces. The student has shown awareness of color theory in his project outcome and be able to communicate emotions.

Schedule

Color theory (0916-0917)

-Color communication- emotions. Color projects that change our perception. Research.

-How can color engage us to a “caring attitude”? ex. Taking care of public space, product life circle, promote local products(Km0)..

-Review basic concepts: Color combinations (colorwhee) & color definition

Exercise 1: painting color combinations (watercolor painting/acrylic)

Color theory (0918-0920)

Exercise 2: The spirit of Joy: Feeling and color. Color inspirations- create a color story.

( Compilation of self-made photography or real objects/nature paterns. See examples)

Draft Design (0921-0922)

Color storytelling presentation: (reviewing and organizing samples)

Draft Design (0923)

-Surface- texture design:

Explore color and material possibilities. ( make real samples in textile/plastic /ceramic/felt/paper...) Experiment homemade ink/ paint and 3dimentional color combinations

- If you are a graphic design student or illustrator you will be asked to to apply different color-pattern- texture to a same design-drawing ( see my webpage the engraving example) or to design patterns

Intermediate Review (0924)

-Submit texture-surface for review.

-Submit illustrations-drawings and texture samples.

(Make a step by step by step video of the creation of the textures-surfaces./ or of the illustration proces)

Finalizing the Design (0925-0928)

-Make the corrections and organize all the material for a final presentation.

Final Submission (0929-0930)

-Submit on a pdf and take video of the process and photos of the final result surfaces-created or illustrations.

Final Review (1002)

-Report PPT and video according to the guidance

产出结果

我们将会以“快乐精神”为题,产出故事线和表面纹理设计。学生的课题将展现出其色彩理论的认识,并且可以使用色彩语言进行情感沟通。
